Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered into an embedded search tool is sent to the outside provider that operates it. That provider processes the query and returns its results. Tennessee Court Docket does not store or log the terms entered into that partner tool on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If you send a message to the site, we retain it so the team can respond. It remains within the organization unless a legal duty requires disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a Tennessee Court Docket page loads, the server may receive technical details about that visit, such as:
- The time and date of a page request
- The referring site, if one sent you here
- The pages opened and the time spent on each
- Your device type and operating system
- Your browser and its version
- The IP address assigned to your device
Cookies and Analytics
This site uses cookies, small files saved on a device, to measure how visitors use its pages and where they stop. Analytics services may combine traffic details for that purpose. Browser controls can block cookies, though some site features may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Finding and fixing technical problems
- Keeping pages available and responsive
- Measuring which pages visitors use
- Passing a search request to its selected partner
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Court-Record Data on File
Tennessee Court Docket does not host, assemble, maintain, or sell a database of trial dockets or personal case histories. It offers general information about where Tennessee records are held: PCH supplies appellate case history, while local court clerks keep trial dockets and files. Visitor data is not compiled here into consumer reports or case records about other people, and this private reference site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power some search boxes on the site. Queries entered there are handled under each provider's privacy policy and retention practices. Tennessee Court Docket does not control how those companies store or share information, so review their terms before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
Tennessee court and clerk pages, PCH, legal-aid resources, and outside search tools may be linked here. Following a link takes you to a different operator, whose privacy terms apply there. Read those terms before sharing information.
Some advertising providers may use their own systems to track activity across sites and select ads. Tennessee Court Docket does not run that tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal information is not sold by the site. Depending on how a visitor uses it, information may be seen by:
- Government or law-enforcement bodies responding to a valid legal order
- Ad networks that serve placements on pages
- Analytics providers measuring site traffic
- Search partners that receive queries entered into their tools
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable standard security practices are used to protect information handled by the site. Internet systems are never risk-free, however, and no promise can be made that a security incident will not occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If a minor's information has been sent, the site will delete it when notified.
Your Data Rights
Privacy rights depend on the law that applies where you live and on who holds the information. Tennessee's Public Records Act, Tenn. Code Ann. ยงยง10-7-503 et seq., concerns public records held by government custodians; Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 34 governs access to court records. Those rules do not turn this private site into the custodian of a Tennessee court file. Where applicable, you may ask the site to:
- Request deletion of information it holds about you
- Ask for a copy of information on file about you
- Request correction of information that is inaccurate
- Opt out of certain data uses when applicable
Updates to This Policy
